Worship & Music

Ministry of Music
"Commemorating Our Legacy . . . Embracing the Future"
The time has come for YOU to join the over 300 people that served as music worship leaders in Central's Music Ministry. As we seek to make a dynamic impact upon the worship life of our congregation and on the lives of our volunteer musicians, please consider this  YOUR invitation to serve God and Central Church through music ministry. We have a place for YOU.

We especially encourage our children and youth to answer this "call to serve." Great Biblical and poetic texts learned in choir provide a foundation for life-long and life-changing spiritual growth and development. Those in the congregation are deeply touched by your music and leadership! Serve the Lord with Gladness!

                                                                               — Kenneth R. Davis, Minister of Music

Bell Choir    Organ     Chancel and Organ

Ongoing Choirs
These choirs are open to all who are willing and able to make a commitment to regular and consistent attendance. Loyalty, dedication and teamwork are important ingredients in building faith, fellowship, musical skills and worship leadership.

Adults
Chancel Choir is the principal choir of the church and sings on most Sundays from early-September through mid-June. The choir sings periodically at special services, events and concerts. A wide variety of styles, ethnic origins and historical periods are represented in the choir’s extensive repertoire.

MÖrgen Bells members enjoy good fellowship and making music together! They play monthly in services during the school year, as well as in special services, concerts and community events. New ringers should contact Sue Hudson for information about joining this choir.

Youth
Westminster Choir (grades 6 – 12) sings primarily from early September through early June. The Westminster choir has at least one Sunday "off" each month to sit with their families. Music is targeted for their vocal ranges, age and skill levels. Choir repertoire includes a wide variety of styles, ethnic origins and historical periods. More advanced training in vocal production and flexibility, blend, balance, diction, dynamics, phrasing, languages and multi-part singing are integrated throughout the rehearsals. Building and nurturing personal faith, community through fellowship, a growing sense of stewardship and worship leadership is highly emphasized.
Ken Davis, director
Rehearsals: Sunday, 9:30 a.m. - Room 208

Children

Treble Choir (grades K – 2) is our primary training choir. Experiential learning, through a variety of methods using games, movement, voices and instruments, is stressed over performance. Listening skills, pitch-matching, rhythmic concepts, teamwork and faith development are also emphasized. The choir sings in regular services and special services six or eight times during the year.
Kristin Johnson, director
Rehearsals: Wednesdays, 5:15 to 5:45 p.m. - Room 201

Choristers Choir
(grades 3 – 5) members begin to learn basic fundamentals of proper voice production, vocal technique and breath control. Sight-singing, part-singing and the Liturgical year are introduced. Teamwork, spiritual concepts and worship leadership are also developed and fostered. The choir sings in regular services and special services once every four-to-six weeks during the school year.
