Théodore DuBois’ The Seven Last Words of Christ was composed in 1867. His original lyrics are in Latin, comprised of verses from the Latin Vulgate translation of the Bible and texts from traditional prayers of the Catholic Church. This service will transform the Sanctuary gradually into darkness, similar to a Tenebrae service.
